Description

Fieldfares are large, colourful thrushes, similar to mistle thrush in general size, shape and behaviour. Head and rump grey back chestnut brown Throat and breast rusty yellow They have a distinct upright posture moving confidently forwards in hops. A soociable birds flocking in winter from a dozen or more to many hundred strong.

Diet

Insects, worms snails and berries.

What does it sound like?

Loud 'chack chack' calls; a chuckling song

When to see it


Bbegin to arrive from October building numbers throughout the winter season. Birds begin to return in March and some may stay into May.
