Description

A stocky big headed duck, the male having a chestnut brown head, breast and tail black. Body Pale Grey. Females Grey-Brown with lighter streaks.

Where does the Pochard Live ?

Large freshwater bodies with fringing vegetation,- reed beds , brackish lakes.

Diet

Mainly aquatic plants

When does it Breed ?

8 -11 eggs, incubation 24 -26 days, young fledge in 7 - 8 weeks . Nests on ground.or in an elevated platform of aquatic plants in shallow waters.
